Tablescaping with Kate Stein

With summer just around corner, we caught up with Kate Stein, our very own stylist/designer, at Martindale, Jill's holiday cottage near Padstow, to discover exactly how she loves to lay a table for leisurely seafood lunch at home. From the centrepiece (classic pewter wine cooler) and simple flowers to the glassware and finishes touches to make guests smile upon sitting down to dine, here are some of Kate's styling tips and product recommendations...

The centrepiece

For this bright and breezy spring/summer lunch table we used our online fishmongers seafood box - creating platters of shellfish for everyone to share, alongside Rick’s White Burgundy wine in our favoured pewter wine cooler which has been iconic at The Seafood Restaurant for nigh on twenty years.

Simplicity is best

Keeping it simple, I used some of my own design indigo sea fan cushions and the Casa Celva Aquamare Murano glass and water jug range. I've been in love with Murano glass for a long time. Mainly as each glass is hand blown and a unique artwork in itself. There is true craftmanship and beauty in each piece, bringing life and vibrancy to the table through colour and dappled shadow.

Finishing touches

I used our hobnail pitcher as a vase, filled with green eucalyptus and dotted white gypsophila flowers on each embroidered napkin just for personal and finishing touches for friends.
