Rick Stein Coves of Cornwall - Set of 2 in 6 designs
This beautiful ceramic design, inspired by the land and seascape of Cornish coves, was the winning entry in a competition Rick Stein launched to final year design students at Falmouth University, Cornwall.
Coves from north Cornwall have been hand-painted in watercolour showing the depth and colour variations in the sea. The clean design and form of bone china complements the subtly changing shades of each cove resulting in a unique and highly collectible range of coastal tableware.
Two gift boxed mugs of your choice for £28.00, choose from Prussia Cove, Sennen Cove, Lamorna Cove, Porthcurno Beach, Readymoney Cove, Cadgwith Cove designs and enjoy a long leisurely cup of tea.
Rick's memory of each Cove:
Prussia Cove - "The most enigmatic of Cornish cove names strongly associated with smuggling and latterly with a fabulous music festival held at Porth-en-Alls House on the cliffs of the cove. There's a great circular walk around the cove."
Sennen Cove - "The mixture of exhilarating surfing and a picture book fishing village."
Lamorna Cove - "At the end of a lush green valley this rocky cove was made famous by the artist Dame Laura Knight, who captured the almost turquoise coloured water on a sunny day. Memorable for me too as the setting to a well loved Cornish Song: ‘And we rode all night through the pale moonlight away down to Lamorna."
Porthcurno Beach - "Porthcurno seen from the Minack Theatre is one of the most spectacular coastal views in the country. The sand is so fine and white that when the sun is shining it reflects through the water and gives it the purest of blues."
Readymoney Cove - "Apart from the fact that Daphne DuMaurier lived in a house on the cove in the '40's, it's the most serene beach for a swim, there's something very relaxing being calm in the water as ships pass by going out to sea or up the Fowey river. "
Cadgwith Cove -"Every time I go to Cadgwith I pinch myself to remind me I’m not in a film set. It’s everything anyone could dream of a small Cornish cove with fishing boats pulled up onto the beach and for me the worlds best red mullet is landed there."
The mugs have a diameter of 8.5cm. They are dishwasher, microwave and oven safe to 200 degrees.
